Boyoung Jeong received her BFA, MFA, and Ph.D in Fine Arts from Hongik University in Seoul, Korea. Since 1997, she has held 27 solo exhibitions at institutions including Kumho Museum of Art, Leehwaik Gallery and SpaceMOM Museum of Art, focusing on questions of representation, space, and the narratives surrounding painting. By arranging objects in space, photographing them, and translating the resulting images into paintings, she explores the distance between object and painter, canvas and viewer, as well as the dynamics of looking and being seen, the distinction between the camera lens and the human eye, and the very act of painting. Her works are in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation, and others. Dr.Jeong is currently Professor of Western Painting at Chung-Ang University.
