Lives and works in South Korea

Changyeol Gu is an emerging contemporary artist who earned his B.F.A. in Fine Art from Keimyung University in 2025.

Drawing from his childhood spent near lush fields, Gu views botanical forms not as simple depictions of nature, but as psychological topographies that reflect the inner architecture of the human psyche—where conscious thought, unconscious impulses, anxiety, love, and emptiness coexist. Through the deliberate, slow-drying process of layering oil paint, he transforms the canvas into a dense, tactile emotional field where color and texture continuously overlap.

His work, which has been showcased at Gallery Kabinett in Seoul, Gallery J-One in Daegu, ASYAAF, and the Daegu International Art Fair, invites viewers to navigate the intersection of human emotion and natural cycles, evoking the quiet, introspective landscapes within their own interior worlds.
